That long line of thunderstorms that we have been tracking all night was passing through the Birmingham Metro area at 5 o’clock this morning.

In fact, the line of storms at 5:15 am extended from Guntersville to Oneonta, into East Jefferson County and southwestward to near Centreville, Greensboro and Livingston.

No warnings so far but considerable lightning and downpours of rain. The rain should lessen in the Birmingham area by 6 am but still a chance of some more showers later.

The morning drive (or morning rush hour) for the Birmingham area will be wet but much of the drive time will have lighter rain instead of downpours and lots of lightning.

Colder weather tonight with lows by Friday morning in the 40s. Mostly sunshine starting Friday all the way into the middle of next week with comfortable daytime temperatures in the 70s but chilly nights.

When the line of storms passed through Tuscaloosa earlier, there was a gust to 46 mph. Coker, in Tuscaloosa County, received 0.55 rain

We are now getting heavy rain and loud thunder in NE Trussville.

Next in line to get this line of thunderstorms will be Etowah, St. Clair, Shelby, Bibb and Perry counties.
