It has been moving SE through Missouri for several hours.
Late this afternoon it had moved down into SE Missouri and had decreased in size. However, because of it the SPC has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 o’clock tonight for these areas:
* Extreme SE Missouri
* Extreme NE Arkansas
* West Tennessee from about Jackson westward
* North edge of Mississippi
What we need to watch for is if the MCS triggers some storms out ahead. A few were developing late this afternoon over West Tennessee ahead of the SE Moving MCS.
We will watch closely this evening in case some of these affect NW Alabama. One or two small storms were already near the NW corner of Alabama.
So far, no part of Alabama is included in a “Slight Risk” area from the SPC A Slight risk does extend into the West Edge of Tennessee and the north tip of Mississippi. A Moderate Risk for Extreme South Missouri and the adjacent north edge of Arkansas.
