An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

Spring arrives at 7:07 p.m. CDT… and our weather will remain dry and mild for the rest of the week as the main weather action remains well to the west of Alabama. A deep upper low will meander around the Southwest U.S. through mid-week, and really won’t impact Alabama until early next week. Our forecast will continue to mention partly sunny, mild days and fair nights through the weekend with highs generally in the mid to upper 70s and lows in the 50s. I would not be shocked if we wound up in the low 80s on Friday and Saturday.

The system over the southwest part of the nation will weaken and lift toward the Great Lakes early next week, and the 00Z GFS hints at a band of showers and storms moving through Alabama on Monday (March 26). I am not convinced we get all that much rain, but we will take anything we can get since our rainfall deficit for the year will be over seven inches by the time this week is over.

LONG RANGE: The pattern continues to favor above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall for Alabama into early April. The 00Z GFS shows rain potential on only two days for the rest of the month, March 26 and March 30 with weakening systems lifting out of the Southwest U.S. There is some hint that we go to a more active, zonal flow across the nation as we get deeper into April, which would mean wetter and potentially stormy weather. But, hey, that is all VOODOO right now.

PRIME TIME: Don’t forget to watch our annual spring prime time special on ABC 33/40 this Sunday evening… it airs from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Bill Castle is putting the show together, so you know it will be good.

WEATHER PARTY: Get all the latest weather news over on our sister site, WeatherParty.com. Be sure and register while you are there; you can submit stories and vote on them to determine what is published on the front page. Plenty of very interesting articles over there.

WEATHERBRAINS: We have a new episode of our weekly 30 minute netcast available on the web and on iTunes… check it out when you have a little time.

This morning I will be down in Columbiana to speak to the pre-school at First Baptist Church; I will be back in the office by early afternoon and will have the afternoon Weather Xtreme video posted by 3:30. Have a wonderful day…..
