Getting off to a wet start on the eastern side of the Birmingham Metro this morning with showers and storms streaming northward around the eastern periphery of an upper low.
A great morning to open the window, pull up the covers and sleep in if you can.
Nothing severe and no severe weather expected this morning. There could be a few warnings later today as we get a little heating going on and temperatures push into the 80s.
But, plenty of lightning and heavy rain. There could be some strong gusty winds as well.
One hour rainfall rates are approaching two inches over southern Shelby County, and the rain has continued to develop over the same areas, so some local flooding problems could occur in the heavier storms.
