Tis an ordinary leaf.

Under a sycamore tree. Possibly its final resting place unless blown about by the wind or raked into a pile and burned.

It did not have a long life but it was attractive while at its peak. It played a very tiny part in nature’s summer showcase. Among zillions of leaves, it may have been hardly noticeable.

But all alone on a grassy area, it caught my attention as I was walking my dog. I love to zoom in on abstract items in nature, isolating it to the single subject in a picture. In my thousands of pictures, there are many, many closeups.

This lonely leaf may still have one more act of goodness. It may lie there and slowly rot during the winter rains. It will then mesh with the topsoil and give enrichment to a clump of crabgrass next spring.

I have an over active imagination, it would be interesting to know how many leaves fall to the ground in the good ole USA each autumn. More than a few!

Life goes on but not forever…and weather is directly involved.
