Well, it is not October.
But it does not feel like late April.
This is the time of year when it is supposed to become more humid in Alabama with a decent chance of showers every 3 or 4 days. After all, this is the growing season. Tis a time of lush greenery in Alabama. Lawns a rich green.
The relative humidity at mid afternoon today was only 22% in Birmingham.
Our low temperatures now are more like late October and early November instead of late April.
Our highs are more typical of mid October.
Our rainfall lately is typical of the desert.
October is typically our driest month of the year but this April is not typical of any month in Alabama.
Nice brisk north wind this afternoon sure reminded me of my favorite month of October.
Seems like it is dry everywhere. Not so, of course, but look at these rainfall shortfall numbers so far this year:

In three more days the Birmingham deficiency will reach one FOOT. That is a bunch, considering 2007 is still quite young.

NATIONAL
1.03 inches in Phoenix. (They have received only 1.88 so far this year)

Everybody is not too dry. Recent rains helped push totals a bit above normal in parts of Texas and Oklahoma.
