Southwestern Tallapoosa County in east central Alabama…
* Until 1145 PM CDT.
* At 848 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have
fallen so far. Rainfall should gradually dissipate over the next
hour, or so. Flooding could affect waterways and roadways in the
advisory area.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Tallassee, Eclectic, Tallapoosa City, Yates Dam and Yates
Reservoir.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
