Dry Through Weekend; Tropical Trouble This Weekend?
DRY THROUGH FRIDAY: Today is the 14th consecutive day without measurable rain for Birmingham, and the dry spell continues through Friday with mostly sunny warm days and fair pleasant nights. Brighter, Warmer Today; Weekend Rain??

Dry Pattern Continues; Gradual Cooling Trend
LAST 90 DEGREE DAY? Yesterday’s official high in Birmingham was 91 degrees… we have to wonder if that will be the last 90 we see until next summer. Understand we will have lots of warm days in October with highs in the 80s, but highs over 90 look pretty doubtful from here on. We do note 90 degree heat has been recorded as late as October 19 at Birmingham. Continue reading
Gradual Cooling Trend Ahead; Dry Through Next Week
LAST 90 OF THE YEAR? With a strong September sun, Birmingham has reached 90 degrees this afternoon; that is nine degrees above average for September 27, and within 4 degrees of the record high for September 27, 94 degrees set in 1998. I do believe there is a good chance this will be our last 90 degree day until next summer. No guarantee, but a good chance. Continue reading
No Rain Anytime Soon; Cooler By The Weekend
STILL LIKE SUMMER TODAY: We are forecasting a high of 90 degrees today; that is nine degrees above average for September 27, and within 4 degrees of the record high for September 27, 94 degrees set in 1998. SUMMER-LIKE WEATHER CONTINUES: Temperatures are in the 87-90 degree range over North/Central Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine. Dry Pattern; Cooler By The Weekend
DRY DAYS: Sure looks like most of Alabama will go rain-free for the next seven days. For many, thoughts of last year’s drought start popping up, but you have to understand we are now in the driest time of the year, climatologically speaking. Long dry spells are to be expected in late September and October… then we tend to go wet/stormy in November and December, which is our late fall severe weather/tornado season here in “Dixie Alley”. Continue reading
Dry Pattern Continues; Cooler By Friday
REST OF THE WEEK: It will feel more like summer tomorrow and Wednesday, with a good supply of sunshine both days we project a high close to 90 degrees. About 8 degrees above average, but not close to the records… Continue reading
Mostly Dry This Week; Cooler Air By Friday
While the best chance of showers will come over the southern half of the state today, a few are possible across North/Central Alabama, but they will be widely separated. Otherwise, today will be partly sunny with a high in the mid to upper 80s. Continue reading
